I've been working on the updated mechanisms pages. You can see them in the link on the right hand side of the page or by following this link.
I'll be adding more mechanisms over the next few days. I'm planning to make downloadable models for each of the models, starting with the bell crank from yesterday.
Should be a fun project!

In preparation for a couple of new models I have been updating the cardbawdy website. It's now online and ready, as they say, for action.
Cardbawdy is the home of my (very small) collection of more salacious, lascivious downloadable models. Randy paper animals, if you will. I think the models on it a rather cute, that said, don't go if you are easily offended. I think the American's would say NSFW at this point.
Busy, busy!

Enough dithering. I've finally taken the plunge and switched the servers to the new flying-pig website. From where I'm sitting it looks like it is working. There are still a few products that need to be added but overall I'm really pleased with the finished result. I hope you like it too!

I've made a start moving the mechanisms pages across from the Flying Pig site. I'm trying to rationalise the two sites into a resource, info, blog, download site (here) and a paper model shop over there.
You can see how far I've got by clicking on the mechanism link in the sidebar. The new Flying Pig site is taking shape over at www.paperrobot.net

There are few things more frustrating than having to redo work that you've already done once. So it is that I've spent a frustrating few days re-installing parts of the web site that I had already installed. The server that hosts the web site suffered a complete hardware failure. (My apologies if you have had problems getting onto the web site over the past few days!)
At least the web site is backed up! The hosting company have restored it, unfortunately it was restored from the day before I did loads of work updating the site. Curses! Anyway, nothing I can do about it now, I just have to bite the bullet and get on with it. I'm nearly back up to where I'd got too. I'm just testing the new workshop notes display for the front page after which I feel the need to make some new models. Thanks for your patience over the past few days. Full service will be restored very shortly.

Friday was the busiest day ever on www.robives.com I was thrilled, so when I received an email on Saturday morning asking what had happened to the web site I was puzzled. A quick check on line and I found it was off line! I contacted my ISP who tracked the problem down to a hardware failure in the server. It took them about 24 hours to fix but I'm finally back on line! The site is restored from a couple of days back so there are a couple of blog posts missing and some comments have disappeared.
I had been working a bit on the front page so that'll need re-doing but all in all I'm just glad to be back.

I've done a fair bit of work on the new version of the Flying Pig web site over the past couple of days. The database is all there, I've added lots of products and the products now display nicely both as a grid view and on their individual pages.
Looking at it now, I think I need to go back and do the same with this website!
You can follow progress at the paperrobot.net website. The shop works, you can place orders if you wish.

I'll be spending a couple of days completing the conversion of the Flying Pig web site to a new database driven site.
It has got to the point, with the current site, where adding new stuff is really hard. I have to add links to all the existing pages individually then check that all the pages are working correctly. It just gets more and more tangled! By running the web site from a database I can add pages and the links are all added automatically.
There is a fair bit of work getting the site started but once it is up and running, maintenance is much easier. You can follow progress at www.paperrobot.net Once it is all compete, I'll update the name tags and it'll be back to being www.flying-pig.co.uk.
The shop is fully working so if you want to order the printed kits please do!

Up until now if you wanted to pay for a download you needed to sign up with PayPal. But no more! I'm pleased to say that orders can now be placed with your normal credit card.
The prices are quoted in Pounds Sterling but the payment gateway takes care of currency conversions automatically. So, for example, the new Pneumatic Giraffe model, priced at £2.50 in the shop, would cost a US visitor around $3.90.
I hope you like the new system. Let me know if you have any questions or problem.
