I would just ask them. In the USA, there are potential IP issues. I don't know UK law. But they may not have any objection. Google has been known to be reasonable and they do love promotion.

Were I you... long shot on that.... I would have my "people" approach their "people" and have them issue these as super cool promos for their company. Oh, and pay you huge amounts of money for engineering something so brilliant and/or use their network to raise your profile/public awareness, thus equalling eventual $$$$$$ D'uh!

well your probly more familiar with copyright laws then we are but i mean maybe if you just changed the color and changed it slightly like giving it claw hands or something simple like that and   didnt call it an android android maybe you could get around the copy right issue. i mean actualy the android looks like R2D2 from the starwars movies and i dont see george lucus trying to go after google =)

i was doing a project from david landis's fan art series there is a disclaimer on there that basically says that these projects have trademarked characters so he will never sell them.which would make it seem as tho as long as your not selling them that your not breaking any laws.

To be safe, I would contact the copyright owner and ask permission. I doubt they would object if you're giving it for free - it results in more promotion for their product.
