This mechanism links together a Geneva drive and a crank to create an intermittent rotating movement. This version is pretty close to complete, a couple of small changes and I’ll be releasing it as a kit.

The Geneva cross is driven round by the pin connected to the handle dividing the rotation by four and providing four long "dwell" periods when the crank is stationary.

The Geneva cross is connected to this crank.

I’ve fitted a casing round the mechanism to hold the ends of the two shafts into place.

And here is the mechanism complete. The movement is quite intriguing. I’m sure it will be useful for all sorts of paper animations and papertoys.
