Last Friday was the Guild of Makers launch. It was a fantastic event! My head is still buzzing from all the new friends, new ideas and marvellous inspiration. I really enjoyed meeting so many like-minded makers. Let’s do it again soon!
As promised in my talk, here are the links to the 1000 True Fans essay and the book The Curve both of which I’ve found really useful in my journey to become a full time maker.
To join in with the Guild of Maker community, come along to #MakersHour on Twitter between 20:00 and 21:00 UK time every Wednesday evening.

Below are a few snap-shots of the day.
I got to meet Vaarks in person!
Maker-in-Chief Dr Lucy Rogers gave the introductory keynote.
We had a talk from Rebecca Steiner, Birmingham City University (SoJ_BCU) talking about being a jewellery maker. (below)
We also had talks from Andy Stanford-Clark, CTO UK & Ireland, IBM (@AndySC), Pete Wood, RS Components (@Petenwood, @RSComponents) and Tanya Fish, Pimoroni (@Tanurai, @Pimoroni)
There was even a talk from me! 🙂

We got to look round the AutoDesk facilities. (Thanks to AutoDesk for hosting!)
In the afternoon we had workshops. I attended the Mini-sculpture workshop with Hannah-May Chapman – great fun!
After which I ran a Make and Organ Pipe from Corrugated Card session. Toot toot!

I was going to Tweer so much more but #GoMLaunch was so busy, and so much fun that I forgot my manners and talked with people instead!
Still, I made a @robives organ pipe! pic.twitter.com/OrG5ZZjewy— ⚫️Alfred Chow – Maker of Things (@Maker_of_Things) March 16, 2018
