Phono Horn Base for Galaxy S3
I’ve had a few requests to design a Phono-Horn base for the Samsung Galaxy S3. Not having access to one of these phones I have reverted to research on Google. These are dimensions I found from a couple of different sources and I’m fairly sure that the marked hole is the loudspeaker. Using this information I have put together the following base. Do bare in mind that I have not been able to test it with an actual S3. With this base and the other two bases I think it should be fairly straight forward to modify the Phono-horn for any Smart Phone. Let me know how you get on.
You’ll need the original Phono-Horn from here so that you can put together the horn part. Follow the instruction below to construct a new base.
Print out the parts onto thin coloured card. (230micron/67lb) The last sheet with the label needs to be printed onto white paper.
Score along all the dotted and dashed lines then cut out the holes before carefully cutting out the pieces.
Fold up and glue together the sides of the base as shown
Fold up and glue the front tube as shown.
Fit the front tube into the base gluing it into position. Use the grey areas on the front tube for alignment.
Fit the front and back cross pieces. Keep the base on a flat surface to ensure that everything stays square as you are assembling the model.
Glue the vertical pipe so that it covers the hole in the front tube and glue the side of it so that it is lined up with the side of the base.
Glue the last cross piece into place so that it supports the vertical tube.
Done!
Fit the horn to the outlet pipe.
It turns out that if I put my upside down Galaxy S4 on the stand the loudspeaker is in exactly in the right place!
I can report that the Phono-Horn S3 Stand works well with an inverted Samsung Galaxy S4.
If you get to try his project with a real S3 let me know how it goes.
